Infrasonic had a whirl-wind weekend down in Austin for SXSW. Not only did Slang Chickens play some killer shows, but Pete Lyman spoke on the panel “Vinyl 3.0 – Challenges & Rewards” bright and early on Saturday morning. For those of you who weren’t in Austin, or couldn’t shake the hangover and drag yourself to the convention center, a podcast of the panel is now available online.

CLICK HERE TO LISTEN TO THE SXSW “VINYL 3.0″ PANEL

The panel was an informative mix of how records actually get made along with tips and FAQ’s for those who haven’t experienced the process of putting out vinyl. The age-old 180 gram debate also surfaced (of course) and the panelists cleared up some of the myths (read them here, here and here). For the record, 180g doesn’t sound any better than your standard weight LP. Check out some clarifications about this and other vinyl myths here.

Thanks to all those who bought us beers, checked out a show or attended the panel!
