Lyman, Jennings and … Stephen King?

Shooter Jennings was in the studio at the end of 2009 mastering Black Ribbons with Pete. Produced by Dave Cobb, the album was released yesterday and sounds amazing! Black Ribbons is a concept album about a bleak futuristic society, as narrated by Stephen King. Definitely the first time King’s voice has come through the monitors in the Infrasonic Mastering Suite.

Pete’s in the studio this weekend mixing the forthcoming record from Jake LaBotz, a modern day country-bluesman who we hear Steve Buscemi calls “The next Hank Williams.”

Head over to the iTunes store today for the Norah Jones iTunes Originals album, mastered by Pete Lyman here at Infrasonic. The album’s 26 tracks are interspersed with exclusive interviews and singles that span Jones’ career.

This is one of many iTunes sessions Pete has worked on so far this year.

Tee Pee Records’ Night Horse are in the studio this week with producer and engineer Matt Bayles (credits include Pearl Jam, Mastadon, Screaming Trees, Murder City Devils and more). Not many details to report on the album’s release from where we sit, but check in with Tee Pee for more info!

Jail Weddings In the Studio

Rolling ten members deep, Los Angeles’ Jail Weddings just finished tracking with Jeff at Infrasonic and will start mixing within the next few days for their forthcoming full-length, “Love Is Lawless.”

The Rain Didn’t Stop Us… Anniversary Party Wrap Up

Infrasonic Sound closed out 2009 by celebrating the holidays and our five year anniversary with Vintage King Audio, friends, clients, comrades and the like. The Colt 45 was flowing (among other tasty micro-brews) as were the Function Energy Drinks and despite the rain, the grill was going for some of the best tacos we’ve tasted. People Under the Stairs, who recently mastered a handful of new projects with Pete at Infrasonic, performed an amazing DJ set that had everyone dancing until the last keg was kicked.

We put our partying to a great cause by hosting a charity raffle for the Silverlake Conservatory of Music, a local non-profit organization whose primary focus is to facilitate basic music education for the youth of the community. Free studio time, gear and a mastering session were all given away – thanks to all those who donated and entered! If you missed your chance but would still like to give, there’s still time – just email meghan@infrasonicsound.com for details.
