Omar Rodriguez-Lopez

Best known for his work with longtime friend and bandmate Cedric Bixler-Zavala in bands At the Drive in and The Mars Volta, Omar Rodriguez-Lopez relocated to Amsterdam in 2005 where he ultimately wrote and recorded four separate albums for his first solo project, the “Omar Rodriguez-Lopez Quintet,” including The Apocalypse Inside of An Orange, a double LP released in the Fall of 2007 via Infrasonic Sound. With bassist Juan Alderete de la Pena, keyboardist Money Mark Ramos-Nishita, horn player/percussionist Adrian Terrasaz Gonzales and drummer percussionist Marcel Rodriguez-Lopez, the Quintet played several live shows in Europe, simultaneously working on The Mars Volta’s 2006 record Amputechture.

In addition to collaborations with Lydia Lunch, John Frusciante and John Theodore, Rodriguez-Lopez released two additional solo-albums via Infrasonic Sound including the self-titled collaborative album between Omar Rodriguez-Lopez and late band mate Jeremy Michael Ward (June 2008) and the September 2008 release Absence Makes the Heart Grow Fungus, one of four solo albums completed in 2001 upon disbanding At the Drive In. Currently, Rodriguez-Lopez is working via Omar Rodriguez-Lopez Productions, a platform for his solo projects, re-issues and films.
